In addition to the Hell or High Water Races the organizers have worked hard to bring you
even more. There are activities to please the spectators, beginner paddlers, and all manner
of non-racers. Check them out!

Hell or High Water (Whitewater) at Catwalk-Centennial Park.

There are tons of things to do including boat demos, SUP demos, raft demos, bouncy castle, rock climbing wall, food vendors, tourism and travel vendors, adventure sports vendors, a riverside DJ… not to mention the whitewater rafters, canoes and kayaks putting on a show.

Spectate: Take in the action as a spectator are one of the great, riverside viewing locations. Loads of people come to Lovers and Catwalk to watch the finish, but the biggest rapids of the river lie just upstream.  To get there, head past McDonalds on Portage Rd and make your first right onto Wilson Ave.

Photography Contest :  Take your best shot and send it in via email to, tag it on twitter with #hohwpetawawa or bring it to the awards dinner anytime after 4.

Dinner, Awards and Social

The dinner and awards will be held at the Petawawa Legion. The big white building along the river’s edge, just cross the main bridge in town. It is just a short walk from the racing.

After years of messed up dinners, we are taking matters into our own hands again. $10 let’s your eat until you’re full, BBQ burgers, sausages, munchies and all the fixings. #noonegoeshomehungry #naileditlastyear

Raffle prizes, final results, music, cold drinks and good friends. Hope you can make it.

We welcome any and all people to come and join in the party. Racers and non-racers encouraged. If you have photos of the day, please bring them on and we can pop them up on the big screen.

Paddlefit SUP Whitewater Clinic.

This clinic is offered in conjunction with the Hell or High Water event in Petawawa.  We will refine your existing flat water skills as we learn how to apply them in the rivers dynamic environment. Crossing eddy lines, board control, balance, ferries and ultimately surfing standing waves will all be introduced in a safe and suitable environment.  Interested candidates may apply this clinic toward a Paddle Canada River skills 1, and or 2 certification through us.

Sea Kayak & Flatwater Cost: Free! Info: The Ottawa River at the mouth of the Petawawa is a flatwater kayaker’s paradise with innumerable islands to tour around, plenty of interesting wildlife and great scenery. The scenery is strikingly similar to Georgian Bay in some ways, believe it or not.
